Overview

Vacations are the best way to get rid of all the stress. Studies have shown that taking time away from the job can have physical and mental health benefits. People who take vacations have a better outlook on life, and more motivation to achieve goals. It also proved that on average, a person takes 2-4 weeks of vacation holidays each year. Without worrying about searching for different sites for the places and planning, this application will provide many features to plan a trip, ensuring that users visit their bucket lists.

My contributions as a UX designer include user research, ideation, design, analyzing data, usability testing, and ensuring the product embodies the business goals while also fulfilling users' needs.

Goals

  • Users can explore places all over the world.

  • Users can bucket their favourite places and can view all the necessary information needed to visit the place

  • They can plan their journey with multiple people by sharing the trip schedule. After their travels, they can store the pictures in the app as memories.

User Interviews

The user interview provided insights into the problems the users are facing. I interviewed 5 people which I felt it's enough for the insights they provided. The main questions asked are-

1. Which applications/ sites were used when planning a trip?

2. Why do they depend on the trip packages even if they are high pricing?

3. If been on trips through travel services, Were you satisfied with their planning package?

4. Have you visited all your bucket list places by relying on them?

User Insights

1. Users rely on family/ friends if they want to visit any place. Otherwise, they do not stick to one website as they have so many options but it's time-consuming for them to check the sites, pricing and availability.

2. The travellers when want to travel to other countries/states, they look into different google sites for information like “top 10 places to visit in California” or “Places to visit in Paris”.

3. They cannot fully enjoy the trip as in a hurry to visit all the places included in the package because they are paying for it.

Test

After Prototype, I asked 3 Users to test the application. The following are the insights they suggested:

1. To give an option for removing the place from bucket list in the home page of right corner of the picture.

2. Option for users to add photos after their trips as memories so they can revisit anytime and cherish the moments

Success Metrics

As there are not yet direct competitors for this application, we can consider the following success metrics:

1. Installations: The number of users who installed the application.

2. Users usage:

  1. Considering the users up-to-date bucketlist and their trip plans

  2. Users uploading the pictures as memory moments

  3. The number of clicks on guide feature

Future Scope

The trip packages can be included with prices. Considering the bucket list and the plans, suitable packages can be suggested and the user can choose between the available options. With the success of the first version of the application, then the various transport availability feature can be added. It can be considered as all in one travelling website with all of these features.

Takeaways

As this is my first case study, I understood there must be more users who can test the prototypes. The user's point of view is the key to the success for any application and getting more inputs will generate the best outcome. And another key is that the app should be made simple such that every group of users can easily use it with no complications. Playing around with the colour palette is interesting and as well time-consuming because to match the patterns and also always trying for an even better look.

Thank You!!!
